Call For Papers
Division of Chemical Information
American Chemical Society National Meeting
San Diego California, April 1-5, 2001

Technical Intelligence

As a recent sub-discipline of Competitive Intelligence, the field of
Technical Intelligence (TI) has taken on greater importance within
technology leveraged organizations looking for competitive advantage in
their respective industries. Topics pertinent to TI include: Patent
Analysis, Technology Forecasting, R&D Strategic Technical Planning,
Licensing and Acquisitions and Competitor Technology Profiling. The
American Chemical Society Division of Chemical Information is seeking
speakers for a symposium at the San Diego National Meeting who are
interested in speaking on topics related to Technical Intelligence.

The organizers are looking for speakers who are representative of the three
different types of organizations who currently work in this field. One
session will be devoted to industrial examples where the speaker may have
used these techniques to influence an R&D decision. A second will involve
vendors of data and software tools for use in TI. These examples should
highlight how the data or software solved a particular problem as opposed to
providing a demonstration of features. The third session will involve
consultants who work in the TI fields. These individuals or organizations
should concentrate on broad topics of general interest that might be of
interest to the burgeoning TI community.

Papers with a Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical perspective are encouraged for
inclusion in the Biotech session of the program.

Opportunities are also available for a poster to be presented on the same
topic during the divisions poster session. Any interested parties please
reply to the organizer, listed below.
