Information Scientist - R&D
AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP, one of the world's top pharmaceutical
companies, has an immediate opening for an Information Scientist at the
Wilmington, DE location.
Job responsibilities:
The successful candidate will perform scientific, technical and competitor
literature searches on behalf of R&D and the CNS Therapeutic Area (TA)
staff. Accomplishment of this responsibility requires consultation with the
client, utilizing advanced searching skills (online and other resources),
document analysis, formatting/organizing of the results and ensuring client
satisfaction. There is a possibility that patent searching in the area of
molecular biology/ biotechnology will become part of the responsibilities of
this position.
Within this position, he/she will be an integral member of many R&D and CNS
TA project teams delivering literature searches, focused current awareness
profiles, summarized competitor information, subject/project specific web
pages and end-user support in the use of scientific and medical databases.
Previous work experience on scientific project teams is an advantage.
Additionally, he/she will provide consultation on relevant
pharmaceutical-related sources (print and electronic); evaluate new
databases, systems and technologies pertinent to the pharmaceutical
information service; participate in the development of content for the IS&L
web page and in global IS&L activities.
Qualifications:
Minimum BS in a Biological Science (or other relevant science); MLS or
relevant degree in Information Science desirable. At least 3 years
experience in a relevant information service environment, preferably in the
pharmaceutical industry; working knowledge of sources pertinent to the
pharmaceutical industry research; a strong commitment to customer service
and excellent communication skills.
