RE: Multi-drug US patents

Yes, Fiorella, I see what you mean.

I don't know if you need just a few examples of patents claming very many
compounds or if you need to conduct a systematic search for patents
claiming, say, more than a thousand.

In the latter case, I'm afraid I don't know a solution, in the first case, I
could think of a strategy to find at least a few of them. Our sister
company, Current Drugs, produces the "ID Patents Fast Alert" database that
provides abstracts and indexing of pharmaceutical patents. For product
patents, they usually specifiy how many compounds are specifically claimed
but if the list is very long, the abstractor would simply state "several
hundred compounds are specifically claimed" or something similar. Searching
the database with some of these phrases, I found a few US patents, or
equivalents thereof, that do not exactly claim THOUSANDS of compounds (none
of my queries with "1000" or "thousand(s)" yielded any hits) but nonetheless
fairly impressive lists. Some of the US equivalents I identified are
US5143914, US5541324, US5189042, US5998424 or US6011029. If you want to
experiment yourself with queries to this database, it is available at part
of the Investigational Drugs Database (IDdb) to which you might have acceess
or online on Questel (file CPFA).

I hope this is of some help, if not I promise not to bother you anymore :-)

George and Peter:

thank you very much for having taking time to answer my question.

Furtheremore, what I'm really interested in are pharmaceutical US patents
specifically listing/naming and claiming per se thousand of NOVEL compounds.
