STN now offers a new cluster called PNTTEXT, containing the three
patent full-text databases EUROPATFULL, PCTFULL, and USPATFULL. This new
cluster enables you to conveniently search in the full-text documents
published by EPO, WIPO(PCT), and USPTO at the same time.
EUROPATFULL contains the complete text of patent applications and granted
patents published by the European Patent Office. EUROPATFULL currently
(status June 2000) covers applications (A documents) from 1992 to the
present, and granted patents (B documents) from 1996 to the present.
Backfile data is being added continuously backwards during the year 2000.
EUROPATFULL is updated weekly.
For applications (A-documents), published abstract, claims, and description
are given in one of the three official languages of the European Patent
Office (English, French, or German). English abstracts are added to French
and German language applications within several weeks of their addition to
the database. For granted patents (B-documents), the claims are given in all
three languages. Titles are available in all three languages in general.
PCTFULL covers the full text of PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) published
applications issued under the auspices of the World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO) from 1983 to the present. The complete text is available
for documents in English (70%), French (5%), German (15%), and Spanish (1%).
PCTFULL is produced by MicroPatent (R). Text for PCT Applications has been
created by Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software. PCTFULL is updated
weekly.
The USPATFULL database contains full text of U. S. patents and the current
classifications for all patents issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark
Office from 1975 to the present, with partial coverage of selected
technologies from 1971-1974, and defensive publications from 1976 to the
present. Coverage includes all granted utility patents, defensive
publications, design patents, reissue patents, statutory invention
registrations, and plant patents. Complete Chemical Abstracts indexing for
one equivalent U.S. chemical patent may also be included in a record.
USPATFULL is updated weekly, on the same day as the patents are published.
