I don't know if any one has ever come across this problem before! It is a
new one for me. Hopefully someone has a solution!

I have several products barcodes with 12 digits. I understand that they are
assigned these number by the "Uniform Code Council" based in Dayton, Ohio.
The first 6 digits apprarently identify the manufacturer, whilst the next 5
digits identify the particular product by the manufacturer. The final digit
is apparently a check digit.

The products are potential infringements, however we are having trouble
tracking down the originators of these products. The bar code appears to
offer a potential answer.

Does any one know of any database wherein the manufacter codes are listed
that I could check?

Also, whilst I understand that these product bar codes are of 12 digits, I
have several which actually have 13 digits! I have been unable to determine
what, if anything that means.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.
