The 12th monthly issue of IP-Wire, the newsletter of the Intellectual
Property Rights Helpdesk is now available online at:
http://www.ipr-helpdesk.org/ipwire
The IPR-Helpdesk recently added a new section to IP-Wire dealing with the
esp@cenet system.
Part of this is a monthly quiz on esp@cenet, which is designed to help
innovators appreciate that patent searching can be challenging as well as
informative.
In this month's exercise you will find the following items:
PROZAC is a well known antidepressant drug. It is one of the best selling
drug ever. Estimates are that the drug has brought Eli Lilly more than Euro
15 billion in revenues since the drug was launched in 1987.
Retrieve the fundamental patent(s) protecting PROZAC.
Another exercise could be conducted on a drug produced by the UCB Group, one
of the largest companies in Belgium. The drug is called Zyrtec. The total
sales of Zyrtec throughout the world to date top Euro 1 billion.
Retrieve the patent protecting ZYRTEC.
Please note that this exercise is quite difficult.
For both patents use Internet search engines combined with a search on the
esp@cenet system to retrieve the patent.
You should only use free services for both searches.
