**Patent Information Specialist**
We have an immediate need for a Patent Information Specialist in our Legal -
Intellectual Property department in Midland, Michigan. This job offers an
opportunity to learn about and contribute to the support of new and existing
technologies through information searching and reporting from both a
scientific/technical and a legal point of view.
*Responsibilities:* Conducting comprehensive searches of patent and
non-patent literature, evaluating references for relevance, and documenting
results in detailed reports to patent attorneys and agents. Searches will
include the use of specialized codes and classifications in online chemical
and patent databases. The successful candidate will acquire and use a
knowledge of U.S. patent law.
*Qualifications:* Master's degree in chemistry or a Master's degree in an
information-related field accompanied by a minimum B.S. degree in chemistry
is a must. Knowledge of polymers is desirable but not required. Candidate
must be self-motivated, be able to work independently, have good
interpersonal relations skills, and have good verbal and written
communication skills. Some travel required to the U.S. Patent Office near
Washington, D.C.
