I would like to add to Sandra's comments about Pat Dorler from another
perspective: I have had the pleasure of working with Pat for the past 6
years. On behalf of my colleagues and myself in the "CPI" (Central Patent
Information) group of DuPont, I'd like to say that she is a treasured
friend, colleague, supervisor, and mentor who will be sorely missed around
here. Pat is not only a highly competent and professional patent searcher
whose expertise has been invaluable to our group (and to DuPont), but she
is also by far the most caring, compassionate, supportive and inspiring
leader I have ever woked with. She has the rare quality of being able to
balance integrity with flexibility, in a trusting and encouraging style
that instills a sense of work ethic in others. As she leaves us, my only
hope is that her wisdom and teachings will stay with us, and guide us
through the rest of our careers. We are indeed fortunate that Pat has
touched our professional lives..

Subject: Farewell to Pat Dorler - Pat is Retiring

Hi,
This is a sad farewell to Pat Dorler, one of the early members of the
Patent Information Users Group. Pat Dorler is retiring as of January 30th.
PIUG would not be what it is today without Pat's contributions. For the
first ten years Pat served as the treasurer of PIUG. Ten years is a very
long time to contribute to any volunteer organization. When I first
started attending PIUG meetings (1991?) Pat was there taking registration.
I was always late with my membership and never seemed to register for the
meeting until the very last second. Pat always smiled and signed me up.
Thanks and farewell to Pat,
Sandra Unger
