S. Narayanaswami asked:
"By the way, do the transfers into Australian Transfers take place much more
rapidly than into other designated countries? Is it true, even if an
application has been made to delay the examination, prior to the expiry of
19 months from the priority date under chapter II?"
----------------------------------------------------------------
In September 1998 I sent an e-mail to the Australian IP office and received the
following answer on this question
(I am citing from an e-mail received from the Australian office on September
28,1998):
"The AU publication date simply mirrors the WO publication where Australia is
designated. It is not related to national phase entry which usually occurs at
the end of the permitted time period and a translation, if necessary will not be
filed before then."
"National phase entry (or withdrawal/lapsing) is advertised in the Australian
Official Journal of Patents which at this time is a hard copy publication. I am
unaware of any moves to put this information on Inpadoc however status and other
bibliographic information on Australian patents and patent applications on
Australian patents is freely available via the internet"
I hope this information helps. It remains to be added, that during the EPIDOS
Annual Conference in October 1999 it was announced, that it is planned to add
legal status information from Australia to INPADOC.
