I am having trouble locating a date on a event that occured in the mid-80s
...

It is argued that the patent system became stronger, as some medium of
consistency was imposed on the judicial system, when the Court of Appeals
for the Federal Circuit began hearing patent appeals. The date that is in
my mind is mid-eighties, but I would love a definitive answer, and maybe
even a citation :)

Any help or recollections will be appreciated.
