JPO to grant patents on individual differences in DNA

According to Saturday's Asahi Shimbun, Jan 15, 2000,
the JPO has announced that it will grant patents on
individual differences in human DNA provided these
differences have application in diagnosis and treatment
of disease.

The article states that the JPO decision is in line with
current discussions with EPO and the U.S.
